About the property

Long Paddock, a detached dormer Bungalow located in the highly regarded village of Compton Dando. Settled within a 1/2 of an acre plot, this property originally built pre war for the land manager of the Popham estate. Extended over the years, fusing the character features with a more modern layout. Also of interest this was once a home for the American movie actress Beta St John during the 1970's.

The property is hidden away along Peppershells lane and accessed via electronic wooden gates with a driveway leading past two tall pines unveiling the property beyond. There is a shingle driveway parking area with a double garage and deep set front garden full of shrubs and a lawn area.
The entrance first goes into a glazed veranda, then into the spacious main hall. To the right is the living room, again generous in size with a large double bayed window providing rural views towards the church, you will feel cosy with the log burner and exposed stone work. A side lobby allows access to the side garden and has French doors leading to the dining room. On from here you enter the kitchen/family room complete with an Aga, fitted kitchen and space to sit, relax and eat. Here you can also link back to the main hall as well as to the rear lobby/utility room, which in turn leads to the rear hall and additional utility space. You will also find a shower room and study which could double up as a fifth bedroom if required.
Across the other end of the hall are three bedrooms. The front bedroom has a dual aspect with a bay window overlooking the front, the remainder the rear garden. There is also a well appointed bathroom with a spa bath.
The first floor offers a further double bedroom with has a dormer, begging for a chez lounge to drink in those views.
The gardens are exquisite, level lawns, seating areas, outbuilding, vegetable beds and wonderful wooden cabin that has been hand made. Perfect for families and pets with a rural back drop and very peaceful in this idyllic location. Read more
